In 1985, Penske Racing & Danny Sullivan scored off the 1985 Indianapolis 500 due to an amazing recovery from a spin. Sullivan started 8th in the race. Mario Andretti led 107 laps while Sullivan spun out while leading the race on lap 120. Sullivan recovered and repassed Andretti on lap 140 and went on to score the win. It was Mario Andretti's best finish at Indianapolis since his lone victory in 1969. The win was the first and only Indianapolis 500 win for Danny Sullivan
